ITC 3DTV Research

The research reported here was sponsored by the UK Government’s Independent Television Commission as part of its 3DTV Initiative* and Immersive TV projects.

Dr Harper’s research is presented here in two sections:

Section 1: Discusses effects that are known to some degree by TV, film and “stills” professionals.

Section 2: Describes stereoscopic size, 2D shape and image mis-perception effects that are largely unknown in professional photographic theory or practice.

* The 3D perception research quoted here was for an addition to an existing stereoscopic production grammar document. It was written for use with the RACE-DISTIMA fully configurable stereoscopic studio camera.
